If you hadn’t already guessed, I’m excited to tell you about some fun, entertaining new issues that came out this week at Game Haven in Sandy. We have a couple other things this week, too! But let’s start with a few titles you might want to come check out. Remember, this is only a sample- we have a lot of comics, with just about any of your favorite characters and teams!
Action Comics #986
From DC: “EVE OF DESTRUCTION” part two! The inhumanities of Earth put even Superman’s trust to the test as he and Lex Luthor begin to see a pattern emerging that points to Mr. Oz and his agents. When Lex confronts Mr. Oz alone, one walks away changed forever.
Dave says: Action Comics has been a rewarding Superman title recently, for the most part. Seeing Lex in a more combative role is always interesting- and note that Mr. Oz seems to have a role to play in the current Detective Comics ongoing story, as well. Seeing both of them play out should be worth it for anyone who enjoys these classic titles. On that note…
Detective Comics #963
From DC: “LONGER CHAINS” part one! Having exiled herself from Batman’s world, Spoiler has nearly destroyed herself trying to expose the corruption of Gotham City’s vigilantes. Fortunately for her, help has arrived…but unfortunately for the city, it’s in the form of the mysterious Anarky! Is he truly on the side of the people, or is he a dangerous lunatic?
Dave says: DC has told us that the different threads of this ongoing series- including where and what Tim Drake is up to- are all coming to a head next month, and Mr. Oz is apparently tied to this as well. Things should be ramping up through the end of the year, so come jump on with this new part one!
From DC: “NEGATIVE” part two! What’s a Rogue to do when The Flash goes bad? Get worse. Operating from behind bars in Iron Heights, the incarcerated Rogues graduate from costumed crooks to true kingpins of crime, unleashing the new villain known as Shrapnel upon the chaotic and unprotected streets of Central City.
Dave says: I highlighted part one of this story, and you can still jump into the flash easily enough. What’s Barry’s end game here? How capable are the Rogues at being “kingpins of crime”? And is Shrapnel someone you should care about? Come check it out!
Ben Reilly, The Scarlet Spider #6
From Marvel: With enemies bearing down on him from every side, Ben Reilly’s running out of options and running out of time! It doesn’t help that one of the people out for Ben’s blood is his spider-powered web-slinging sibling KAINE!
Dave says: They’re both clones of Peter Parker, they’ve both used the moniker Scarlet Spider, and they both have some anger issues these days. Still, they’re (kind of) siblings, what could possibly go wrong here? Oh… right, the cover.
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again #4 (of 5)
From Marvel: It’s right there in the title! Deadpool is killing ALL of the Marvel heroes again! Buy the ticket, take the ride!
Dave says: I don’t know what I can add to that verbose description from Marvel. Everyone got such a kick out of the last time they did this, they came up with another scenario where Deadpool needs to kill everyone in Marvel. Deadpool’s a little polarizing- you probably already either love or hate this idea from the title, regardless of anything I type here.
X-Men Gold #10
From Marvel: Colossus and Magik return to Russia to help a stranger with ties to their past — only to discover him in the clutches of OMEGA RED! But surely the newly resurrected cyborg serial killer means the X-Men no harm though, right?
Dave says: I’ll field that question. It’s Omega Red; yes, he definitely means them harm. Whether you were a fan of him in the old 90’s comic appearances, or you just enjoyed playing him in the old arcade games, Omega Red is back! Come grab a copy and see how the reunion goes.
I said there was more than comics this time, didn’t I? Did you know Game Haven Sandy has lots of Game of Thrones mugs with the major house sigils on them?
Or how about Pop! figures? Game Haven Sandy now has Pop! figures, including some of these awesome franchises and licenses:
Come take a look and see what you might want!
